After spending days refining and tweaking....  Here is my tiny entry into this years Lethbridge 10000 art prize! It measures around 22cm x 30cm. The prize is judged on creativity, originality and skill. I really hope I have enough of what they are looking for

]]><![CDATA[Painting impossible things]]>Fri, 20 Apr 2012 00:21:48 -0800http://www.ruthcadioli.com/9/post/2012/04/painting-impossible-things.htmlYou never stop learning as an artist. In fact it's what you learn that inspires you to keep painting!
A week ago a friend and I travelled down to the Gold Coast to have a looksey through the Anthea Polson gallery. If you're ever in need of inspiration, a gallery is a good place to go. There I noticed Emma Blakes work and really liked the patterns she puts into her work, because, well, lets face it, I like patterns too. That was really just the starting point though, the initial interest in wanting to do this painting. Then as I worked I thought to myself that the patterns on the redish feathers look like a toadstool.... So the work evolves with new ideas and experimenting. It doesn't always work, but I find that if I stick with it I can usually find a solution.

I am now painting things that I never thought I could. The impossible is becoming increasingly possible:-O!
