When I'm too lazy to use my imagination, I attempt to copy reality. It's definitely still a challenge. I wouldn't call it easy, just less brain racking than scumming up ideas from the mirky depths of my mind. Here is the Sness. It's about time I drew her portrait!
Thanks Sness:-) Loves you!

Nudie Drawing 08/01/2009

Recently on Monday nights my art buddy friend Jo and I attend a life drawing class. It has definitely helped to improve my observation skills. Each time we start with 2 minute drawings, then 5 minutes etc and finally we are allowed 20 minutes.

Every now and then I come back to this piece. Somehow it always ends up unfinished... At the moment I'm fascinated by the ancient world, particularly ancient Mesopotamia, and religion in general. The painting now vests these interests.

Today I finally bought a digital camera! My bestest friend the Snessymonster came round for pizza and red wine and helped me try it out...

Getting this camera has really been a milestone achievement! Now I can finally get my new work onto the site! Yay!

Jamie Bochert 07/21/2009

Ah, the muse. Jamie Bochert has a face I keep on coming back to for my work. She has something more than just girlish beauty. I plan to use her haunting look for some work very soon...

My first post! I feel as though I ought to say something grand! But perhaps it's best to let the pictures talk and not me...

This portrait was drawn last weekend, on Saturday. It's coloured pencil on paper. I have never felt utterly confident in my drawing abilities, but at the same time, I am a perfectionist. Maybe this is what is driving me to keep on going until I get the results I want.

Of course this picture is not perfect! I'll be working on that later... In the mean time I deem this portrait good enough to be framed and hung.
