Created during the rise of the selfie epidemic: this is an introspective and fun self portrait of the artist. It is somewhat of a mixed media piece with the face being drawn in pen and pencil onto paper. It was then carefully glued onto the canvas board and disguised by multiple painted layers of colour, shapes and textures. It is a bold and striking artwork that is fascinating to study both up close and from a distance: a beautiful interplay of wild psychedelic colour, various painterly textures and geometric form. Influenced by paint flow techniques and realism the painting shows contrasting detail with loose and free flowing paint of different consistencies making for a captivating artwork.
