How to describe a piece like this? Its so different, so unusual.
Instantly it transforms the feeling of my own space from a rather ordinary Brisbane suburban home into something more like a bohemian abode that would belong quite comfortably somewhere in Byron Bay. There is something thrilling about seeing it everyday. It is semi sculptural due to the 3 dimensional frame. As you walk past and around it you can see different aspects of its design, both externally as well as the painting within.
This is my first illuminated design piece. Hidden in the frame are battery powered LED lights. If you have a dimly lit space like myself it is really a great option to make it a place of whimsy and mystery.
At first my centrally located staircase and dark hallways were an issue for me, as I need light fill spaces to observe my work! Now they have become the catalyst for a new direction and something that truly excites me
