New Releases. Work in progress pieces. Projects. D.I.Y. Behind the scenes. Sketchbook tours.
Watch the Painting progress! This piece has undergone many adjustments as I've worked on it. I'm pleased to say that it is finally finished! I often have just a rough idea of what I'm out to achieve to start with. It's my pickiness and perfectionism that pushes me to keep changing things that aren't really working for the piece.
This process can sometimes take years! Years to overcome the artists block, the hesitation and uncertainty of where and how to go next. I started this one back in 2012. Sometimes I get a bit down heartened. It can take a long time to figure out some designs. You need a great deal of bravery to do something bold & drastic at times when things just aren't progressing. Doing something that is possibly 'undo-able' to a piece, possibly ruining it altogether! These are the times that it takes courage to push past a fear of failure and loss. It takes concentration. There's a real fear of losing days worth of work and not being able to get it back! Heartfelt effort does sometimes go down the drain. There is an emotional investment in every piece of original work. It can either go under or pay dividends. Its a bit like a relationship. There's initially a profound amount of motivation & excitement, a commitment, a connection, a level of expectation... But heartbreak and frustration when things get stuck. Taxing at times. But I have learnt over time that if i stick loyally with a piece, I know it'll all work out in the end. NEVER GIVE UP! Try new tactics , it only makes it better, richer and more interesting. Same goes for life. Another lesson learnt. So what does this piece represent then? A Dogmatic love. Striving. Dedication. Endurance. Courage. Bravery. Triumph over adversity. Personal growth. Life!
